Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP)

Overview: The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) is a community-driven initiative by Canada to strengthen smaller and remote communities through economic immigration. This program offers a pathway for skilled foreign workers to obtain permanent residence in eligible areas in Ontario, Western Canada, and the three territories.

Participating Communities Include:

  • Ontario: North Bay, Sudbury, Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay
  • Manitoba: Brandon, Altona/Rhineland
  • Saskatchewan: Moose Jaw
  • Alberta: Claresholm
  • British Columbia: Vernon, West Kootenay (Trail, Castlegar, Rossland, Nelson)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must have a recommendation from a participating community.
  • Should have either one year of relevant work experience or have graduated from a local post-secondary institution.
  • Needs a valid job offer that meets local wage standards for the NOC category.
  • Must meet educational and language requirements specific to the job offer (CLB 4-6).
  • Intend to live in the community.
  • Have sufficient funds to settle in the community, unless currently working legally in Canada.
