About the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

The AIP, evolving from the success of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP), has become a permanent fixture in Canada’s immigration landscape since January 1, 2022. This innovative program facilitates the immigration of skilled workers to Canada’s four Atlantic provinces, helping to fill job vacancies and bolster the local economy.

Immigration Targets

  • 2022: 6,250
  • 2023: 6,500
  • 2024: 6,500
Key Features:
  • No LMIA Required: AIP streamlines the hiring process for employers, removing the need for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
  • Dual Program Approach: Catering to both high-skilled (AHSP) and intermediate-skilled (AISP) workers.
  • Family Inclusivity: Immediate family members can join the principal applicant, enhancing the transition to life in Atlantic Canada.
  • Supportive Transition: Candidates receive a customized settlement plan to ensure a smooth integration into their new community.
For Candidates:
  • Valid job offer from a designated employer.
  • Endorsement certificate from the province.
  • Commitment to apply for permanent residence within 90 days of temporary work permit application.
  • Minimum education of 12 years and Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
  • Language proficiency equivalent to CLB/NCLC level 4.
  • At least 1 year of work experience in the last 3 years related to the job offer.
For Employers:
  • Must apply for and obtain a designation from the province(s).
  • Commitment to support the newcomer and their family in settling in Atlantic Canada.
